The Sacrifice of Thanksgiving – Day 2

The Sacrifice of Thanksgiving – Day 2

Come Before Him with Thanksgiving

(Adapted from the sermon, The Sacrifice of Thanksgiving: From Ritual to Relationship)

Come, let us sing to the Lord!
Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation.
Let us come to him with thanksgiving.
Let us sing psalms of praise to him.

Psalm 95:1-2 (NLT)

Thanksgiving is not only a time of gratitude, but also an opportunity to enter into the presence of God with joy and praise. Just as the Israelites were called to enter the Lord’s courts with thanksgiving, we are invited to approach God with hearts full of gratitude and voices lifted in praise. When we recognize the Rock of our salvation and the abundant blessings He has bestowed upon us, thanksgiving becomes not just a dedication of our lips, but an overflow of our hearts.

REFLECTION QUESTIONS:

  1. Why is it important to approach God with both thanksgiving and praise?
  2. How does thanksgiving contribute to our worship of God?

PERSONAL APPLICATION: Spend time in worship and praise, either in song or in prayer, expressing thanksgiving to God for His faithfulness, provision, and salvation. Allow your heart to be filled with joy and gratitude as you focus on the Rock of your salvation.

LOVE IN ACTION: Think of someone in your life who has been a source of encouragement and support. Take a moment to express your gratitude to them and let them know how they have made a positive impact on your life.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, I come before You with thanksgiving and praise in my heart. You are the Rock of my salvation, and I am grateful for Your faithfulness and provision. Help me to always approach You with an attitude of thanksgiving, knowing that You deserve all honor and praise. May my gratitude overflow into acts of love and kindness towards others. In Jesus’ name, amen.
