From Joash to Jesus – Day 1

From Joash to Jesus – Day 1

The Providence of God’s Protection

“But Jehosheba, the daughter of King Jehoram and sister of Ahaziah, took Joash, Ahaziah’s son, and stole him away from among the rest of the king’s children, who were about to be killed. She put Joash and his nurse in a bedroom. In this way, Jehosheba, the wife of Jehoiada the priest and sister of Ahaziah, hid the child so that Athaliah could not murder him.”

2 Chronicles 22:11

REFLECTION:

In life’s tumultuous moments, we often feel vulnerable and uncertain, much like young Joash in the midst of a deadly plot. Yet, we find reassurance in God’s providence. Just as Jehosheba protected Joash, God safeguards us in the midst of adversity. His protection extends beyond physical safety, encompassing every aspect of our lives, providing refuge for our souls and guidance for our paths.

God’s providence is a complex concept that has been interpreted in many ways throughout history. It refers to the idea that God is actively involved in the world and that everything that happens is part of His plan. This can be a difficult concept to understand, especially when we are faced with adversity or tragedy. However, it can also be a source of great comfort and hope.

One way to think about God’s providence is to consider it as a tapestry. From our limited perspective, we may only see the individual threads and knots that make up the tapestry. We may not understand how they all fit together or what the final image will look like. However, from God’s perspective, He sees the whole tapestry and knows exactly how each thread fits into the larger picture.

Another way to think about God’s providence is to consider it as a journey. We may not always know where we are going or what lies ahead, but we can trust that God is leading us on the right path. Even when we face obstacles or detours along the way, we can trust that God will guide us through them and bring us safely to our destination.

In summary, God’s providence is a complex and multifaceted concept that can be difficult to understand at times. However, it is also a source of great comfort and hope during challenging times. Trust in God’s care and guidance, knowing that He is always with you and will never leave you alone.
