From Joash to Jesus – Day 5
Welcoming God’s Presence “On his robe at his thigh was written this title: King of all kings and Lord of all lords.” Revelation 16:19 REFLECTION: While Joash’s story serves as a reminder of human frailty and the need for restoration, we find hope and inspiration in the ultimate King of Kings, Jesus Christ. He courageously cleansed the temple in His time and continues to cleanse our hearts today. As the King of all kings and Lord of all lords, Jesus…
From Joash to Jesus – Day 4
Persevering in Faith “Then the Spirit of God came upon Zechariah son of Jehoiada the priest. He stood before the people and said, ‘This is what God says: Why do you disobey the Lord’s commands and keep yourselves from prospering? You have abandoned the Lord, and now he has abandoned you!’” 2 Chronicles 24:20 REFLECTION: Joash’s tragic turn away from God serves as a cautionary tale about the consequences of disobedience and spiritual drift. He rejected the warnings of the…
From Joash to Jesus – Day 3
The life of Joash highlights the significance of godly mentors in our spiritual journey. While Jehoiada mentored Joash, the young king walked in obedience to God. This underscores the importance of surrounding ourselves with wise counsel and mentorship. Just as Joash thrived under the guidance of a godly mentor, we too can benefit from the insights and wisdom of those further along in their faith.
From Joash to Jesus – Day 2
Restoring true worship is an essential aspect of our faith journey, as it helps us draw closer to God and experience the joy of His presence. The narrative of Joash’s initiative to revive the long-neglected temple reminds us that worship isn’t confined to rituals but encompasses the state of our hearts and the authenticity of our connection with God. The neglected temple symbolizes our own hearts, which often require renewal and cleansing.
From Joash to Jesus – Day 1
In life’s tumultuous moments, we often feel vulnerable and uncertain, much like young Joash in the midst of a deadly plot. Yet, we find reassurance in God’s providence. Just as Jehosheba protected Joash, God safeguards us in the midst of adversity. His protection extends beyond physical safety, encompassing every aspect of our lives, providing refuge for our souls and guidance for our paths.
God’s providence is a complex concept that has been interpreted in many ways throughout history. It refers to the idea that God is actively involved in the world and that everything that happens is part of His plan. This can be a difficult concept to understand, especially when we are faced with adversity or tragedy. However, it can also be a source of great comfort and hope.
Forgiveness Triumphs Over Judgment – Day 5
In the final reflection of this series, it is important to remember that Jesus came to save, not to condemn. According to the Bible, Jesus did not come to judge the world, but to save it. He was given authority to judge, but chose not to at that time. His mission was to provide a way out of judgment and to save the world. Jesus’ purpose was to save, not to condemn. Those who believe in him will not be judged, but will have eternal life. However, those who do not believe in him are already condemned.
Forgiveness Triumphs Over Judgment – Day 4
Just as Jesus has shown us immeasurable compassion and mercy, we are called to extend the same to ourselves and others. When we perceive our flaws and imperfections in the light of His perfection, we can see others through the lens of understanding, compassionately responding to their shortcomings, and offering support and encouragement.
Forgiveness Triumphs Over Judgment – Day 3
Mercy Triumphs Based on 10/1/23 sermon, Forgiveness Triumphs Over Judgment. Then Jesus stood up again and said to the woman, ‘Where are your accusers? Didn’t even one of them condemn you?’ ‘No, Lord,’ she said. And Jesus said, ‘Neither do I. Go and sin no more.’ John 8:10-11 (NLT) REFLECTION: In this powerful and profoundly moving moment, Jesus offers not condemnation but an extraordinary display of mercy to the adulterous woman. As she stands before Him, vulnerable and exposed, expecting…
Forgiveness Triumphs Over Judgment – Day 2
Jesus’ words in this encounter challenge not only the Pharisees but also us. Often, we carry heavy stones of judgment, conveniently forgetting our own imperfections. When we pass judgment on others, we unknowingly burden ourselves with the weight of our own self-righteousness. Today’s reflection invites us to examine the weight of these stones and their profound impact on our relationships and spiritual journey.
Forgiveness Triumphs Over Judgment – Day 1
As he was speaking, the teachers of religious law and the Pharisees brought a woman who had been caught in the act of adultery. They put her in front of the crowd. (John 8:3-4 NLT)
